Awoulaba competition in Gagnoa: The organizing committee received by the sponsor.
It is this Saturday, June 20, 2026, that the beauty competition called Miss Awoulaba will take place in Gagnoa.
This African beauty competition will select the candidates who will represent the Gôh region in the final phase, scheduled for the coming days in the economic capital.
On Friday, the organizing committee deemed it useful to pay a courtesy visit to Lambert Gbizié, the event's sponsor.
"It is a real pleasure for me to welcome my children this evening, these charming girls who are candidates in the Awoulaba competition.
A competition that celebrates traditional feminine beauty. This competition is held every year, but I only ever saw it from afar.
“Today I was asked to be the sponsor. I humbly accepted on behalf of my peers present here, on behalf of my village Tchédjelet and on my own behalf,” said the national vice-president of the board of directors of the national chamber of kings and traditional chiefs of Ivory Coast, in charge of the greater west.
"I would like to thank you for the honor you are bestowing upon me by choosing me as the patron of this important ceremony," said the village chief of Tchédjelet to the organizing committee.
He noted that this type of beauty pageant is not foreign to Bété culture, as this people traditionally celebrates the Bagnon and the Bawonlon, representing respectively the most handsome man and the most beautiful woman. The sponsor wished each of the candidates good luck.
This wish was reiterated by Mrs. Paul Dokoui, national president of the Awoulaba Côte d'Ivoire competition (CACI). She hopes that, at the end of the final phase, the 2026 Miss Awoulaba will come from Gagnoa.
The wife of the famous journalist Paul Dokui, initiator of the awoulaba competition in Ivory Coast, recalled that the innovation of awoulaba this year is the culinary competition. "A beautiful woman should know how to cook for her husband.
"It's this culinary aspect that we're looking for today in Awoulaba," explained the national president of CACI. This culinary competition preceded the visit to the patron.
The jury selected Ms. Ella Guelli, from Ouragahio, as the winner. She presented a local dish called "Gblogblo Saka".
Followed by Bohui Danielle, originally from Bayota, with a dish she named "la villageoise".
Third place went to Bailli Annick, also from Bayota, who presented the "Loko Soukouê".
The candidates were evaluated on three criteria: the taste of the meal, the presentation of the dish, and food hygiene.
Note that the official ceremony for this competition will be held in the wedding hall of the Gagnoa town hall.
