Gagnoa, the best students from high school 3 receive awards
Before the start of the school holidays, the administration of the modern high school 3 in Gagnoa organized on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, a day of excellence to reward 53 students who distinguished themselves through their work during the 2025-2026 school year.
Eighteen girls and thirty-six boys from grades 6 through 12 were the proud recipients of excellence awards. In front of their parents and administrative staff, these students were celebrated in a manner befitting their merit.
“The ceremony that brings us together today is of great importance. It is about celebrating merit and excellence. It is through this kind of meeting that students will question themselves and understand that they must get to work. Because it is through work that one can achieve oneself,” said Djakaridja Traoré, the principal of Lycée 3.
He says he celebrates excellence to create healthy competition among students.
"Those who are not awarded should tell themselves that next year they must be among the best. Those who are awarded must understand that it is a challenge to maintain where they are," added the head of the institution.
Alongside him was his deputy, François Mbassié, who was also the chairman of the organizing committee.
“Our goal is the pursuit of excellence, which we want to transform into a requirement. That is why, every day, we do everything we can to achieve this goal. We have a duty to train quality students who can ensure the future of education,” the PCO maintained.
School supplies, t-shirts, medals, certificates of merit, and other gifts were awarded to the top students. In addition, students who excelled in sports were also recognized. This initiative was spearheaded by the physical education teacher, Mr. Dosso.
Through cross-country, football, and handball competitions, to name just a few sporting activities, talented athletes received prizes from their teachers.
“Excellence can also be found in sports,” Mr. Dosso emphasized. For her part, Ms. Kouassi Aimée, a French teacher, encouraged the students to take an interest in the language of Molière because, she said, French is a cross-curricular subject.
"It is the French that we use to teach courses in other subjects. Hence its cross-curricular nature. Mastering French is an advantage for the learner to understand the course being taught to them," explained the head of the French teaching unit.
On the agenda for this day of excellence was a culinary competition to discover the school's culinary talents. The first prize went to the group of girls who prepared the dish "Gouagouassou" accompanied by yam foutou.
A dish from central Ivory Coast. It should be noted that the modern high school 3 in Gagnoa has an enrollment of 3032 students distributed across 56 academic classes and 51 physical classrooms.
