Abel Djohoré on the sanctions against the RHDP: "Indiscipline weakens the party"
Following the publication of the list of RHDP officials and activists who faced disciplinary action for running as independent candidates in the last legislative elections, Abel Djohoré spoke out on Wednesday. The RHDP departmental secretary for Ouragahio, Bayota, and Dahiépa-Kéhi wholeheartedly applauded the measures taken by the party leadership.
From the outset, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sodexam stated that he did not want any activists to be in difficult situations. However, he added that when someone has made a mistake, they must pay the price. In this spirit, he fully supports the decisions made by the company's headquarters on Rue Lepic.
“We wanted this sanction because indiscipline weakens the party. That’s what we don’t want in the RHDP. We don’t want disorder within the party because it weakens us. So we are satisfied that the party leadership is taking its responsibilities. I think this will calm many people in the ranks of those who do not respect the instructions issued by the party,” Djohoré reacted.
"It's a shame that activists are being singled out in this way," he added, before stressing the Houphouëtists' desire to keep power for as long as possible.
To achieve this goal, the departmental official continued, certain behaviors must be eradicated among activists and other leaders of the RHDP political apparatus.
"No political party can move forward if it does not sanction its activists who go against the grain," Abel said.
According to him, the RHDP would have obtained more than 197 seats out of the 225 in the National Assembly, had it not been for the cases of indiscipline observed here and there in the electoral districts.
The nature of the sanctions
“Many of our candidates could have won the legislative elections. Unfortunately, there were political leaders from our own side who paved the way for our defeat in this election by distancing themselves from party decisions.”
“Sanctioning them will bring the activists back into line, because we want to build a strong and solid party,” emphasized Abel Djohoré. It should be noted that in the Gagnoa department, two people were sanctioned.
These are Rabé Liagro Charles, a member of the regional coordination committee, and Djédjé Bagnon Marius Bienvenu, an activist. Their names were on the list of independent candidates in the Gagnoa sub-prefecture and Ouragahio electoral districts, respectively.
The first receives a reprimand, removal from the political office held, exclusion from internal elections for a period of 3 years, and a ban on representing the party in various national elections for a period of 3 years.
As for the second, he is not only blamed, but will be excluded from internal elections for a period of 3 years and will be prohibited from representing the party in various national elections for a period of 3 years.
