Gagnoa/City Council: The project to build the large market was adopted by the councilors
The first session of the municipal council was held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Gagnoa town hall in the presence of the 2nd Secretary General of the Prefecture, Assamoi Bernard, village and district chiefs, as well as traders.
During this session, Yssouf Diabaté, mayor of the municipality of Gagnoa, announced the construction of the new ultra-modern market in the said city at a total cost of six billion CFA francs.
Joël Sika, a building engineer representing the company in charge of constructing the market, presented the plan of this building through a slide.
It will be built on an area of 2,600 m² with a two-level building which will include 412 shops, 206 of which have a mezzanine of 30 m², 138 boxes and 508 stalls, as well as 5,000 square meters for other spaces including the butcher shop, poultry, etc.
For security reasons, nine entrances are planned, including two main entrances of nine meters each to facilitate access to the market and seven secondary entrances. A loading dock is also planned at the rear of the market for those arriving with goods, allowing for easy access, and a parking lot with space for 400 vehicles will also be constructed.

The mayor was given the go-ahead to sign the Bot agreement. "We announced it, and it will be done before the end of 2028." He then added that he was happy to leave behind a building for the benefit of the people of Gagnoa.
Yssouf Diabaté asked the residents of the cheese-making town to be patient while the national office of technical studies and development (BNETD) validates the plan and estimate for the construction of the new market before submitting them to the supervisory authority.
