The 'Camp Fonctionnaires' district of Gagnoa has a new chief. Julien Koudou was installed this Saturday at the community center during a ceremony sponsored by the deputy-mayor Yssouf Diabaté.
Unable to attend, he was represented by his chief of staff. Mr. N'guetta emphasized the important role that every neighborhood plays in the development of a municipality.
For him, this investiture is an act of maturity, responsibility, and civic duty on the part of the residents of the neighborhood. "You are providing your neighborhood with a compass, a guide, and a privileged interlocutor," declared the mayor's emissary.
He advised the residents to stand in solidarity with their chief. "A chief is only strong through the support of his people. Alone, he represents nothing. I therefore urge you to surround him with your advice, your respect, and your loyalty. Cultivate unity around him so that your neighborhood becomes a model of development," N'guetta recommended before offering advice to the newly installed chief.
"From this day forward, you bear a heavy, yet noble, burden. Being a leader is not about rising above others to command, but about humbling oneself to serve one's constituents," noted the mayor's aide.
He urged his interlocutor to be a listening ear, listening to the sorrows and joys of each family. "You are now the guarantor of social cohesion, peace, and community spirit in this neighborhood. You are the mediator who eases tensions and reconciles hearts. In carrying out your duties, know that you will not be alone. The town hall, with all its departments, will be by your side to support and assist you," the speaker promised.
Previously, Chief Julien thanked the mayor for his commitment to the residents of the 'Camp Fonctionnaires' neighborhood' and then presented a list of grievances. These included the provision of a building for the chief's office to hold meetings, and the recruitment of two young people from the neighborhood each year as municipal employees to promote youth employment.
"I express my gratitude to all the people of 'Camp Fonctionnaires' for their exceptional mobilization. This demonstrates our commitment to the values of solidarity, fraternity and living together," Chief Koudou emphasized.
It was following an election that the residents chose him to lead the district, thus becoming the 5th leader of 'Camp Fonctionnaires'.
Married and father of 8 children, Julien Koudou has been a retired teacher since 2019. At this ceremony, he had the support of his peers, neighborhood and community leaders.
