UNARACI sets up its regional office in Gôh
The National Union of Active Retirees of Côte d'Ivoire (UNARACI) now has a regional office in the Gôh region. It is headed by Wahoué Dénis, a retired teacher. Last Thursday, he was officially installed in his new role by Zoma Bi, the national president of the union.
Accompanied by his closest collaborators, President Zama Bi sprinkled water on the members of the UNARACI regional office. He then presented them with a roadmap outlining clear and precise objectives.
“We tell Mr. Wahoué that the retirees are there, but they are in a state of lethargy. He needs to wake them up. For that, he must do some offensive coaching to expand the group,” said President Zomi.
Its goal is to get seniors out of idleness and keep them healthily occupied through recreational activities such as sports and travel.
“We want to break with the old habits that dictate that retirement is a dead end. We say no to that vision. We want the best for retirees. Each year we will go to a different region. This year it’s San Pedro, next year it will be Man, in 2027 we will go to Senegal. These are ambitious programs and we believe things will proceed normally,” revealed Zomi Bi, outlining his action plan.
He then invited active retirees in Côte d'Ivoire to take an interest in the union, which he saw as a tool for development. In his address, President Denis Wahoué expressed his pride in leading UNARACI at the regional level. He stated that he was aware of the importance of the mission entrusted to him and pledged to fulfill it properly. His mission is to reach out to a wide audience of people who have claimed their retirement benefits.
“My task will be to recruit retirees and provide them with information about the union. Then, to encourage them to invest, because knowledge about investments is not something everyone has. This knowledge will be passed on to seniors to improve their living conditions,” Wahoué argued.
On his agenda, he has scheduled meetings with socio-professional groups to encourage them to join UNARACI. This union brings together retirees from both the private and public sectors. It should be noted that Gagnoa is the third UNARACI office to be established nationally. The opening of offices in other parts of the country is underway.
