Gagnoa: The mayor donates a second synthetic pitch to the city
As part of the FIFA ARENA project, Mayor Yssouf Diabaté secured a second synthetic pitch for the municipality. With the work completed, the municipal team visited the site on Tuesday to appreciate the beauty of the football field.
At the end of the tour of the playing area, the mayor's first words were to thank the president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).
“I thank President Idriss Diallo. When I submitted my bid for this project, he did not raise any objections because Gagnoa is a football city that has produced many champions. He accepted,” the mayor recalled, recounting a part of the history of this land.
After the FIF president's approval, the next step was to find a site for the project. Yssouf Diabaté reached an agreement with the national state real estate management company (SONAPIE) to occupy the space located in front of the regional civil service headquarters.
"So this is a source of satisfaction for us. This is the second synthetic pitch in Gagnoa after the one at the Biaka Boda stadium, which was a gift from the First Lady, Dominique Ouattara," stressed the city's chief magistrate.
Through these actions, he wants to immortalize his time as head of the municipality.
"When a man walks, he leaves traces. I am leaving my traces," he added, delighted to offer this land to young people aged 7 to 14.
Indeed, it is this age group that will have the privilege of playing on this pitch, the cost of which is estimated at 5 million, including earthworks and fencing. The objective of the FIFA ARENA project is not only to provide a sports field for young people, but also and above all to promote their social inclusion through sport. It should be noted that prior to the visit to the synthetic turf, the 3rd session of the municipal council took place. During this meeting, the mayor announced the start of road paving work in certain neighborhoods of the municipality.
