Dignago: The president of FAFED presents a project dedicated to corn cultivation
United as a food cooperative in Dignago for a long time, and now affiliated with a structure dedicated to maize cultivation, the Federation of Women's Associations of Dignago (FAFED) led by Mrs. Koupo Ivone, brought together its members on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in Dignago, to present this new profitable project and proceed with the distribution of seeds.
Ms. Koupo Ivone, president of the food cooperative of the sub-prefecture of Dignago, also president of the federation of women's associations of Dignago (FAFED) led a meeting for exchange and reflection in order to present the OIA Maize, an interprofessional agricultural organization for the maize sector in the Goh region of which she is the regional delegate.
This organization is structured into several producer colleges that bring together grassroots actors. It aims to unite the entire maize value chain.
The OIA Maize is composed of three colleges, namely; the college of producers, processors and traders.
The regional delegate explained the advantages of this interprofessional structure whose role is to defend the interests of farmers and agricultural professional organizations producing corn with the governing bodies of the Interprofessional and the State.
Its mission also includes organizing the rural world and encouraging the transition from subsistence production to professional farms, without neglecting to consider participation in strategic decisions regarding the direction of the sector.
To carry out their production in the maize sector, the women food producers of Dignago, through the president Mrs. Koupo Ivone, benefited from the distribution of maize seeds under the supervision of the agricultural directorate represented by Mr. Guedé, and the representative of the zone chief of the national agency for rural development support (ANADER), Mr. Yao.
This distribution is part of an effort to provide corn seeds known for their potential to produce high yields, resulting in financial gains for female farmers in the sub-prefecture of Dignago.
To put words into action, Ms. Koupo Ivone, regional delegate of Goh of the OIA Maize, accompanied by agricultural experts, went to Lebré, a site reserved for women to cultivate maize in abundance.
The women also received gifts, including pagnes (wrappers), from the president of FADED, as encouragement and stimulation to pursue the sustainability of food production.
